Get to know Miholašćica
Miholašćica is a small village of about 30 houses located by the sea itself, which was once primarily a place of fishermen who lived and survived by bartering for meat with the neighboring village of Stivan and beyond (who were shepherds). In addition to fishing, the villagers of Miholašćica and Stivan also engage in olive growing, wineculture and agriculture for their own needs. Life on Cres was hard, our elders said, but simple and beautiful. It was lived in harmony with nature, from land and sea, for better or for worse. Tradition, family and customs were everything, on Cres as it once was. Such modesty and simplicity as well as coexistence with nature are rare in today's lifestyle.
Today, Miholašćica is one of the most famous and beautiful destinations on the islands of Cres and Lošinj, primarily thanks to its long pebble beach. The beach is known for its exceptional sunset, the longest on the island since it is located on the western side of the island of Cres, and for its crystal clear sea and refreshing springs of fresh water, the so-called "vrulje". Therefore, it is not surprising that precisely because of its excellent position and the specificity and wealth of marine flora and fauna, it has become very desirable for a tourist vacation.
Miholašćica is extremely attractive for lovers of sea sports, kayaking, surfing, diving, fishing, as well as for trips by sea (boats, ships, catamaran) to nearby and further destinations on the island of Cres. Today it is a perfect oasis for relaxation, it is also chosen by those who like a more active vacation, since it is located under two hills: St. Kuzma and Damjan and St. Kristofor and between two neighboring villages, Stivan and Martinšćica, and has organized hiking and hiking trails, which were once the only form of communication between the villages. Therefore, it is not surprising that Miholašćica is increasingly becoming a favorite place for hiking, trekking, running, climbing, rock scrambling, cycling, and even walking for coffee or ice cream while sightseeing in nearby Martinšćica or Stivan.
Not far from Miholašćica, there is the Slatina camp, located in a separate cove, a well-known family camp with additional facilities, entertainment for children and adults. In the village of Miholašćica and Stivan itself, apart from local shops and restaurants where you can eat very well and local food (lamb, fish, seafood, etc.), there are no cafes and noise, nor tourist crowds, but pure nature, so expect that you will really have a good rest from the modern way of life.
Martinšćica is a larger tourist settlement with several restaurants, cafes, shops and is connected to Lošinj, Cres, Susak, Ilovik and Rijeka by catamaran and bus lines. From Miholašćica to the ferry port in Merag (towards the island of Krk) it is a 38 km long drive and to Porozina (towards Istria) a 50 km long drive on the island's main roads. The nearby airport in Lošinj is a 52 km long drive along the island's main road.
